Our Learning Program

At Chifley Early Learning Centre, we embrace the Early Years Learning Framework and subscribe to the philosophy that ‘play is child’s work’. Our highly trained educators understand that play is instrumental in shaping the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child.

The significance of the early years in relation to future learning as well as physical, behavioural and social development is recognised, and our curriculum designed with this in mind. In our Early Learning Centre, our approach is child-centred, where children learn in a safe, supportive and caring environment which fosters positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging.

Our state of the art Learning Environment promotes a sense of curiosity, inquiry and wonder from even the youngest of children. Every corner of every space in our Childcare Centre has been designed with a purpose, and provides children with rich and meaningful learning experiences.

Through play, inquiry, exploration, discussion and investigation, children develop their authentic selves and strengthen their thinking, communication and social skills.

Our funded Kindergarten Program taught by Bachelor Qualified Early Childhood Teachers offers children the opportunity to express their individuality through their natural learning style. Singing, movement, music, dramatic play, painting, creating, designing and building are just some of the ways children at our centre will learn and grow.

At Chifley Early Learning Centre, we believe the education environment plays an integral role in a child’s learning. Our beautiful and unique learning hubs have been designed with children and the future in mind. Our facility uses only high-quality and sustainable materials throughout the learning and play environments. 

Natural environments evoke a young child’s five senses and promote wonder, curiosity and an intrinsic desire to protect our world. The use of natural materials and neutral colours in our Early Learning Centre promotes a sense of calm and allows for open-ended creativity.

Our unique and exclusive Sydney CBD location provides the children with amazing opportunities to experience all the natural elements and concepts such as the wind, rain, mud, bugs and much more. Chifley Children have regular access to Sydney's Botanical Gardens, which is conveniently located across the road as well as many other CBD parks. Not only do our children get to explore with and experience the very best the city has to offer, but can bring these experiences back into the classroom.

Embracing Technology

As a futures-orientated Early Learning Centre with a focus on providing high-quality education, we embrace and integrate technology into our curriculum. Appropriate and safe use of technology such as Early Years Math, Literacy and Science programs delivered through Interactive Whiteboards and classroom iPads aims to expand, enrich, extend and differentiate the curriculum.

For parents, digital kiosks are located at the entrance of the facility, making the process of signing your children in and out of the Centre each day quick and easy.

A Day in the Life

 

At Chifley Early Learning Centre, we believe that each child is on their own unique journey and understand that all children will develop and learn at their own pace. We also understand the importance of having a daily rhythm and the sense of security this provides children. Our daily rhythm offers babies, toddlers and children the safety of predictability while being flexible to individual needs. In our Early Learning Centre, we know that children love to learn from and imitate the adults in their life and this is why we have embedded life skills into the curriculum. As our educators joyfully perform routine daily tasks such as caring for our environment or setting up for morning tea, children are gently encouraged to participate.

Welcome Each child is warmly greeted and we begin our morning together. We share a special book and sing welcoming songs to help the children transition from home to Chifley Early Learning Centre. Parents can take the time to enjoy a barista made coffee and ease into their day in our beautifully designed parents lounge.

Explore, imagine & play Beautiful learning spaces encourage the children to freely explore and investigate. Their natural curiosities and skills are cultivated as the children build, create, imitate, imagine, design and dream all while practising invaluable communication and social skills.

Nutrition Wholesome, nutritious food baked in-house by our very own chef delights the children’s senses and provides them with the nourishment needed for play and learning. Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks are lovingly prepared and provided throughout the day.

Music & movement Uplifting music and children’s instruments are used by our enthusiastic educators to invite the children to get moving with creative dance and movement exercises. Children develop their perceptual motor skills and burn energy before it’s time to rest and rejuvenate.

Crafts & creative Children have the option to participate in an organised activity. This may take the form of a craft activity, a social game or a language activity inspired by a wonderful story.

Rest time Gentle music signals to the children that it’s rest time. For some, this will mean a well-needed nap. For others, this is a time for quiet independent activity such as reading or completing a puzzle.

Free play Children engage in free play as they choose from a wide range of purposeful age-appropriate play spaces. Limited only by their imaginations, children may choose to create a piece of art, swing and climb on the play equipment or host a tea party with some treasured toys.

Farewell As children continue to engage in their free play, exercising their imagination and creativity we begin to farewell until tomorrow. Each child leaves the centre feeling valued and eager to return.
